The ‘Zero Waste Vegan January’ Supper Club
As Veganuary draws to an end, we want to encourage you to continue the plant based shenanigans into the rest of the year, and beyond.
Plant Based News are joining forces with the inspiring charity Veganuary and chef Soph Gordon to host a special and unique evening celebrating fresh produce, British grains, the concept of wasting less and of course, plant based power. We are working closely with the inspiring Oddbox and Bring Your Own to host this intimate evening at the beautiful event space Second Home nestled in the middle of the ionic Spitalfields Market, Shoreditch. You will sit and enjoy a bespoke 4 course meal prepared by Sophie with this seasons finest fruit & veg.. and we mean finest, all shapes, sizes, varieties (thanks to Oddbox) and of course beautiful whole grains without all the fussy packaging (thanks to BYO and their new store in Nunhead, SE London).
Sophie will prepare each course with the theme of zero waste in mind, so don’t be surprised if you see a vegetable feature in your desert, freshly toasted pumpkin seeds and quirky decor. The dishes prepared will hopefully help to give you some inspiration for your own plant based feast – for yourself, family and friends.
About the night:
You will be greeted with a limited edition alcoholic (or non) kombucha cocktail by Fix8 Kombucha, freshly prepared nibbles, including the finest vegan cheese around, thanks to KindaCo. We will then sit down to enjoy the next 3 courses together.
Thomas James Smith will be playing live acoustic music throughout the course of the evening, as well as talks from a number of well known people in the industry as well as some of the participants of the night.
December and January have the largest amount of food waste, what with the aftermath of Christmas and New Year celebrations. On average 4.2 millions Winter dinners were wasted across the UK last year according to Unilever.. and that isn’t just vegetables! So, in light of that, join us for a magical evening to celebrate Veganuary (and beyond) with no waste, helping to show you how easy and attainable it can be, inspiring you to get creative with your produce and/or left overs and of course bringing the overwhelming food waste statistic down.
What to bring: yourself, a tuppawear (incase your eyes are bigger than your belly), a tote bag (for a DIY fruit and veg pot luck), good vibes (although, we’ll also bring those).
The ‘Zero Waste Vegan January’ Supper Club at Hanbury Street will be held at Second Home Wednesday 23rd January 2019.
