What is a Ceilidh?
Ceilidh or célidhe (pronounced ‘kay-lee’) is a Gaelic word for a special music event where you’ll get a taste of Scottish, Irish and English folk music and dance. Ceilidh bands feature a minimum of two players (fiddle and accordion) plus a caller, but most have more players, adding in guitar, drums, guitar, keyboards and flute or traditional whistles. With a five-member band this St Patrick’s Day, expect high energy to get up and dance, with simple steps and formations that will stretch down the room.
