Movimientos Brazilian Carnival Special at Hootananny Brixton

Movimientos present a night of Brazilian beats celebrating the almighty carnivals of Brazil, from the Afro-Brazilian blocos of Bahia to the Baile Funk sounds of Rio’s favelas.
Big Ben Jorge will be presenting their explosive Samba-Funk music live, alongside Aleh Ferreira and Samba-Reggae drum ensemble Unity Inspiration. Keeping things moving before and after DJ Tigas will be on hand with his eclectic mix of beats from MPB to Brazilian Funk, as well as DJ LoRIOca, connecting the dots between London and Rio de Janeiro with some Baile Funk & Brazilian Bass.
Big Ben Jorge – 1970s explosive tropical party music
Big Ben Jorge is a south London based group playing explosive tropical dance music inspired by 70’s Brazilian pop music, particularly that of maestro Jorge Ben. Infectious groove and audacious costumes galore!
Unity Inspiration – Thundering Samba Reggae drum ensemble
A London based drumming group inspired by the vibrant, exciting music from Bahia Brazil called Samba Reggae, with their own eclectic flavour added.
Aleh Ferreira – Samba-Funk fusion grooves
Brazilian singer-songwriter Aleh Ferreira, best known as the frontman of legendary Brazilian funk band Banda Black Rio, will be bringing his Band to Hootannany . His warm, distinctive voice, samba-funk fusion grooves and lyrics that celebrate Afro-Brazilian heritage have earned him a career spanning three decades across the globe.
DJ Tigas – Brazilian beats, from Samba-Jazz to MPB

DJ LoRIOca – Brazilian Baile & Bass
London based DJ & event producer DJ LoRIOca creates dance-floor experiences inspired by her journey as performer & cultural researcher between London & Rio de Janeiro. Spinning an eclectic fusion of global bass, Brazilian electronic, Funk Carioca & Afro-beats her music will take you on unique journeys that embraces tropical sensuality, deep rhythms and the notorious “bailes” (dance raves) of Rio de Janeiro.
